About the Cause
Posted by TH0281 in Thailand on 04/14/2026
Nutritious food plays a crucial role in children's growth and overall family well-being. However, many communities are grappling with rising living costs and insufficient incomes, resulting in some families lacking access to safe and adequate food. Consequently, children and youth are at risk of unbalanced nutrition and miss opportunities to acquire essential life skills. The Sufficiency Economy concept serves as a pivotal approach to enhancing self-reliance by encouraging families to effectively utilize available community resources. This includes producing food for household consumption through practices such as growing vegetables, establishing small-scale farms, and raising native animals. Such initiatives help reduce household expenses and foster food security at the family level. In response to these challenges, the Sufficiency Economy Agriculture Project for Food Self-Reliance for Children, Youth, and Families aims to promote the learning and practical application of sustainable agricultural practices. The project's goal is to empower families to produce safe food for their own consumption while instilling principles of self-sufficiency, resource appreciation, and collaborative efforts within families and communities. Ultimately, this project aspires to enhance the quality of life for participants and ensure sustainable food security for the future.

How the church will sustain the Cause
To ensure the sustainable success of the Sufficiency Economy Agriculture Project, we will empower children, youth, and families to actively apply their agricultural knowledge at home. This includes practices such as growing vegetables in gardens and establishing small-scale farms, enabling families to produce safe food for their consumption. The project will facilitate community learning groups where families can share experiences, support one another, and exchange seeds and produce, fostering collaboration and reducing costs. Additionally, children and youth will play a vital role in managing family farms and sharing knowledge within the community, promoting a culture of continuous learning. Any surplus produce can be sold or exchanged, generating supplementary income for families. This approach aims to achieve food security, lower household expenses, and foster long-term self-reliance in the community.
